IKYTA featured us. Here’s what IKYTA means for you.

IKYTA has profiled KYTANZ in its NKYTA Spotlight. If you’re a Professional Member you’re already part of IKYTA, at no extra cost. Here’s why that matters and how it works.
In September, IKYTA put KYTANZ in its spotlight. If you’re a Professional Member, you’re already part of IKYTA, and you may not be using everything it offers.
The spotlight
IKYTA, the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association, runs a series on its national associations around the world. Dhanjot Kaur’s piece on KYTANZ, published on 3 September, opens: “KYTANZ Kundalini Yoga connects teachers across two of the most geographically vast countries in the world.” It follows the Association from its founding in 2008 by Guru Jivan Kaur to the 2026 Strategic Plan.
Why IKYTA
IKYTA describes itself as the global professional home for KRI-certified Kundalini Yoga teachers. Yogi Bhajan founded it in 1994. KYTANZ is the recognised national association (an NKYTA) for Australia and New Zealand within that network, which is why our members are part of it.
It is a long relationship. IKYTA’s Spotlight traces it back to KYTANZ’s founding in 2008, describing 18 years of KYTANZ growing into the recognised national association for Australia and New Zealand within the IKYTA network.

What you get, included
Your IKYTA membership comes with your Professional membership of KYTANZ, at no extra cost. For members of a national association, IKYTA lists:
- A place in the 3HO teacher directory. IKYTA reports around five million visits a year.
- Publish your events on IKYTA.
- A fuller profile: photos, links and call-to-action buttons.
- NKYTA spotlights, polls and a quarterly meeting.
- Member discounts and specialised teacher support.
- The Global Teacher Forum twice a year, festival teacher days and IKYTA’s email updates.
This is the national-association level of IKYTA membership. IKYTA also offers a separate Premium level, which you can take up with IKYTA directly.
It works both ways
Your included membership is an arrangement between two organisations, set out in a recognition agreement that KYTANZ renews with IKYTA every year.
KYTANZ checks and passes on. We verify each member’s KRI certification, pass the details IKYTA needs to list you (your name, email, country and certification status) twice a year, renew our recognition every May, make an annual contribution to IKYTA from member fees, and share IKYTA’s news with you.
IKYTA recognises and connects. It recognises KYTANZ for Australia and New Zealand, makes every eligible Professional Member an IKYTA member, and gives you the directory, events promotion, discounts and international gatherings above.
Make the most of it
- Look yourself up in IKYTA’s teacher directory, and add photos and links if you haven’t.
- Your yearly KYTANZ renewal confirms your IKYTA status, so keep your details up to date.
- See everything IKYTA lists on its membership options page.
