Our Annual General Meeting is online on Saturday 28 November. Elect the committee, vote on our updated Rules and hear the story of our year.
Our Annual General Meeting is on Saturday 28 November, online by Zoom. It’s the one day of the year our members gather to choose the committee and set the course for the year ahead, and we’d love you there.
The formal notice went out by email on Friday 6 November to every member entitled to vote. If you’re a Professional or life member, it’s in your inbox. Everything else is on the AGM page: sign in to register, read the papers and see the Rules changes in plain words.
A year of new foundations
This year we laid new ground: a new home online, our Find a Teacher directory, free 40-day practices that brought people to the mat together morning after morning, and a fresh set of Rules ready for members to decide. The Committee’s report on 2025–26 tells the story of the year against our Strategic Direction. It’s on the AGM page now, with the financial statements for the year to 30 June 2026.
What we’ll decide on the day
- Elect the 2026–27 committee.
- Vote on our updated Rules, as a special resolution.
- Set the annual subscriptions for 2027.
- Receive the Committee’s report and the financial statements.
Our Rules, refreshed
The changes begin where everything begins for us: our purpose. The proposed new purpose reads:
“The purpose of the Association is to be a community of practice, grounded in the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, that supports the personal, spiritual and professional development of Kundalini Yoga practitioners in Australia and New Zealand, from those new to the practice to trainees, teachers and trainers, through connection, integrity and shared growth.”
Among the other changes:
- Community membership is open to anyone who supports our purposes.
- Teacher trainees can join as soon as they enrol.
- A minimum age of 18 to join.
- A Professional Member who doesn’t renew stays with us as a Community Member, rather than leaving the Association.
These changes are proposed.
Help steer KYTANZ
KYTANZ is growing, and next year’s committee gets to build on everything above. We’re looking for a Treasurer, and for people to help drive our membership and social media campaigns. New to committee work? That’s welcome. Each area builds skills, and you’ll learn alongside someone who’s done it. Every role is seva: a way of giving back to the sangat and the teachings that hold us.
Any Professional or life member aged 18 or over, joined or renewed by Thursday 12 November, can stand. To stand for President, you also need to have served on the committee for the six months before you nominate. Nominate online by Saturday 21 November. The roles, the hours and how to stand are on the Stand for the committee page. Know someone who’d be brilliant? Send them the page.
How to take part
- Come along. Professional and life members register on the AGM page, and Zoom emails your joining link.
- Can’t make it? If you can vote, another member can vote and speak for you. The proxy form is on the AGM page, and it needs to reach the Secretary by 11:00 am AEDT on Wednesday 25 November.
- Community and trainee members are welcome to come and listen. Email the Secretary and we’ll help you join us.
- Not a member yet, or lapsed? If you’re a KRI Certified teacher, join or renew as a Professional Member by Thursday 12 November to vote and stand.
After the meeting, the results and the draft minutes will be on the AGM page.
All of it serves one vision: “A stable ground where Kundalini Yoga practitioners across Australia and New Zealand connect, grow, and serve together.” We’ll see you on the 28th. Welcome home.
Sat Nam,
The KYTANZ Committee
