Kundalini Yoga with Rachael Kyneton Wednesday Morning Class

Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. It is considered one of the most comprehensive types of yoga as it entails physical as well as mental components and harnesses a deep sense of connection with self. It is dynamic and uses postures, movement, sound, breath, chanting, as well as incorporating music.
These yoga classes are very different from the traditional type of yoga class, as the focus is more about each individual’s experience rather than specific asana techniques. Kundalini Yoga can help balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system and enable us to harness the energy of the mind and emotions, so that we can exercise our free will, rather than be driven by impulses of our thoughts and feelings.
Music is an integral part of the class and it can uplift and help us open our hearts. It is true to say, that you never know what to expect when turning up for a Kundalini Yoga class!
Kundalini Yoga was introduced into the West by Yogi Bhajan in the 1960’s. He was a master of Kundalini Yoga and fully awakened or more commonly known as enlightened as a 16 year old. It was his vision to bring this yoga to the west, which he did as a 39 year old when he arrived in Los Angeles in 1969. He went on and created 3HO (Healthy, Happy, Holy Organisation) which now has 300 centres in 35 countries.
My personal journey with Kundalini Yoga happened organically when I found an online yoga teacher that taught some Kundalini classes. After trialling a few classes I was hooked and it has now been a part of my life for 6 years. Over the last 18 months my commitment to the practice has deepened with it now becoming a part of my daily life and I can honestly say the changes have been profound.
In 2018 I had the wonderful opportunity to spend 3 months in India. Part of this trip was with my family but a major component of it was based in Rishikesh in Northern India (considered by many as the yoga capital of the world) where I completed my 300 hour Kundalini Yoga teacher training. At same time that I was planning my trip, my online Kundalini teacher, Kia Miller, released a 10 day Kundalini Yoga immersion in Rishikesh. All of this aligned for me and provided the opportunity to dive deeper into this practice, with my favourite mentor, along with 60 other participants from all over the world. These experiences and my teacher training consolidated my desire to start offering classes on my return back to Australia – and here we are!
These classes are suited to everyone and anyone, no previous yoga experience is required. Kundalini Yoga is about your own individual journey during each class, it is a pathway to foster a deeper connection within yourself. Regular Kundalini Yoga practice can assist with reducing anxiety & depression, regulate addictive behaviours, reduce stress during teenage and schooling years, help manage the daily stresses and pressures of every day living.
I am excited to share my love of Kundalini Yoga with our community. I have worked in the healing arena for the last 15 years, helping people come back home to themselves. I look forward to sharing the many tools and techniques within these classes that can assist all of us in finding greater balance. For anyone interested, my one on one sessional work can be found at I also work with horses to help people heal and if that interests you please check out
